When you’re drinking milk out of a squeezeable container, it’s usually wise to avoid closing your mouth until AFTER you stop squeezing.

I’m just sayin’.

I’ve had such a little bee in my bonnet this past week, feverishly reading Captain’s Quarters about the sponsorship scandal. I really wanted to link to him, and say that the level of corruption in government that’s finally being made more transparent is freaking me right the hell out! Not that I was worried about my paltry 1000 or so visitors a month putting me in harm’s way - but I do try to stay on this side of not breaking the law.

Today, Justice Gomery lifted the publication ban, so I can finally do and say those things!

Except I kindof just did. So no more news from me. But keep reading CQ. I can’t wait to see where this goes and how big the shitstorm becomes.

Also, if you’re like me, and tend to tune out 80% of politics until we have to vote on something, this is probably a good time to tune back in. We may have to vote again soon.

Phew. Blog Fixed. And it took me all of three seconds. Too bad I was at work all day, and didn’t have any of my ftp login information with me to fix it before now.

Seems what happened was when my host upgraded their php and mySQL whatchamacallit, my under construction page (handily called index.html) ended up in the public folder instead of hiding away where it belongs.

Don’t ask me how that happened (I try to avoid going in there as much as possible, for fear of totally borking things), but it did. And I fixed it all by my own self! Someone should send me a cookie or something.

You scored as Aquarius. You get along best with the sign of Aquarius. Although Aquarians can be seem very odd, or over opinionated, they are good generous people. They are the humanitarians of the zodiac; they always put others in the place of themselves. Aquarians have a strong sense of individuality, and likewise, can be very eccentric. They usually have many friends because they are very easy to get along with, although at times, Aquarians can be withdrawn and introverted when they choose to be.

What sign of the Zodiac are you meant for?

It’s the new random shuffle game. Shuffle In My Pants. And what better to elevate my mood than tuning out the workplace with music.

Instructions: Take the first 20 or so songs in your random playlist. Add the phrase “In My Pants” to the end of each title. Comment on anything extra amusing. Post.

1. Dave Matthews - Satellite In My Pants
2. Billy Klippert - Lindsay In My Pants
3. Sum 41 - Still Waiting In My Pants
4. Van Morrison - Mama Said There’d Be Days Like This In My Pants (This could be the title of a best-selling new “coming of age” book for young women!)
5. Yellowcard - View From Heaven In My Pants
6. Marc Anthony - Don’t Turn Off The Lights In My Pants (Eee Aah Eeh Aah EH!)
7. Linkin Park - In The End In My Pants
8. Supreme Beings of Leisure - What’s The Deal In My Pants
9. Day Theory - Beautiful In My Pants
10. Maroon 5 - Tangled In My Pants
11. Maroon 5 - Must Get Out In My Pants (Perhaps “of my pants” would be more appropriate here?)
12. Supreme Beings of Leisure - Ain’t Got Nothin’ In My Pants (Good thing I’m a girl, so this is much less embarassing than it could be!)
13. Yellowcard - Only One In My Pants (at a time)
14. Dave Matthews - Diggin’ A Ditch In My Pants
15. Avril Lavigne - Sk8er Boi In My Pants (So much for this not being embarassing)
16. Puddle of Mudd - Blurry In My Pants
17. Yellowcard - Gifts and Curses In My Pants
18. The Polyphonic Spree - Reach For The Sun In My Pants
19. Dave Matthews - Bartender In My Pants
20. Jamieson - Complete In My Pants

I think I need to give in to the fact that I may have spring allergies.

I’ve been sneezing like a mofo for at least three weeks. For the past few days, my eyes have been dry and hurty (I haven’t even been wearing my contacts). I wake up in the morning groggy and snotty.

I’ve never had allergies before, nobody in my family does, so I’m totally unfamiliar with what to do about the symptoms. Should I be taking something or seeing someone about this? If so, who, what, where?

In fine form again, I’m resurrecting the art of the one-day paper. The internet is a dangerous thing, negating the need to actually do any “library” research, and my new best friend Google is leading the way.

Whenever I make a statement that looks like it requires some proof outside of my word, I lay down the Google magic, and *poOf* there it is. Well, it’s not quite that easy, I spent too much time in academia to put my entire trust in online search results. I’m primarily using EBSCOhost and CBCA online indicies, supplemented by a few industry websites.

I’m now at page 2 of 7 done, making steady progress with my 1 page per hour pace. I’ve also probably wasted a solid third of the time with blogging, IRC, and coming across articles that I end up reading for personal interest, but are totally useless for my subject matter.

It also doesn’t help that the paper I’m writing is a joke. I’ve been instructed to write a “pure research” piece - I’m not to form any opinions of my own, just present information that other people can use to make decisions from. It’s highly unexciting and takes zero thought to write.

Good thing there’s so many leftovers from last night’s BBQ - at least I don’t have to take time away from writing to cook dinner. Leaves more time for wasting so I can give my full attention to Desperate Housewives.

Balcony After

Originally uploaded by peechie.

As promised, I finished the balcony in the nick of time. The only thing left to do is get my gardening groove on, but it’s not quite time for that yet.

Thanks to everyone who made it out last night, and made it fun :) My only regret - I was too busy having fun to take any pictures!

Did I mention that it looks as if my superawesomeroommate will likely be moving out in June or July? Well he probably will be. Boo-urns.

So I was thinking… I’m not getting any younger, and perhaps summer is a good time to finally move downtown near-ish the beach! Problem is, I’m also feeling very strongly about the fact that it’s time to get a dog. And beach+dog=$$$. Not specifically the cost of the dog (though the vet bills etc. are nothing to be taken lightly), but the cost of a dog-friendly rental near the beach.

The other thing that’s got me thinking is that I wouldn’t be having quite so much trouble with the decision if I had a car. The biggest problem for me at the moment is finding a dog-friendly location that’s also got the amenities I need nearby. I’ve been spoiled by my current location being so very close to everything, and I remember what a hassle it was when I didn’t - groceries on the bus = no fun.

If I had a car, I could move somewhere pet-friendly that’s also less expensive - although the cost difference between an expensive apartment vs. car payments/insurance/gas is probably negligable. And I’m realizing rapidly that I can’t really afford either of those on my current salary. Time for me to start making more moolah. I only wish I knew how…

UPDATE (2:20pm): I’ve decided that my new goal is to pay off my credit cards by May 31, which will take a bit more penny pinching that I’m used to, and hopefully move for June 15 or July 1. Then perhaps I’ll get a Min Pin for my 25th birthday present to myself. Yes. That sounds like a splended plan!
