It still stands out in my head as a truly mighty rainstorm, even after 28 years of living on the wet coast. The thing with Phoenix is that they don't have storm drains, and the water drains to the middle of the road instead of off to the sides and into the drains. I'll never understand why it's set up like that, but it's one of the weird things I recall from that trip. I imagine that makes a situation with bad drivers even WORSE because they're all driving through huge puddles. Oooh I’ve been in Phoenix when it rained, once when I was about 8. I think Vancouver drivers are awesome in comparison. Hell, our drivers in the rain are better than L.A.'s in the sun.
