So, thanks to a last minute golf trip, I’m without a boyfriend for the next couple of days. I now have all of Canada Day and Friday night with no plans and nobody to hang out with.

So if you’ve been harassing me to come out and chill, and you’ll be around the next few days, give me a call and we’ll set something up…..

Everyone has already said most things I was going to say about the election, so just a short post to fill in the few things I still think are worth mentioning.

With the votes falling the way they did, I predict another election within 16 months. And I hope Chuck Cadman doesn’t flip back to the conservative party. He claims he’s going to let his constituents decide whether he should officially re-join the party, or remain an independent. I hope his riding realizes that he can have just as much, if not more of an impact by remaining independent, and voting as he sees fit, rather than toeing a party line.

I’m quite pleased with the way things turned out over all though. Although I think it would have been nice to see a couple more NDP seats over the Conservatives, it will make the coming months interesting, if nothing else.

I don’t typically post anything too political on here – but I’ll make the same mention a lot of my fellow bloggers are making: if you didn’t vote, you can’t complain. Though honestly, I’ve got a fairly enlightened group of friends, and they all voted, and I just don’t usually converse with people outside that circle with any amount of seriousness about these issues.

Proof that there is a God.

Last summer I was a victim of the Grande Brownie Frapp ASS. So this is a welcome addition to the summer slushy drink lineup.

I promise I have things to say about last night’s erection election, but first, I have something very important to share.

With all of the political hooplah, it completely slipped my mind that on Sunday it was exactly 1 MONTH until my BIRTHDAY!

Please prepare adequately for the festivities and gifting.

That is all, carry on.

GO VOTE, NOW!

Ok, if you can’t go now, the polls are open from 7:00am - 7:00pm, local time.

Don’t know where to go? Check elections.ca. Just enter your postal code to find your polling station. Don’t know your postal code? Check out canadapost.ca.

There. Now you’re all out of excuses.

What’s that you say? You don’t like any of your candidates? VOTE FOR PEECHIE! That’s right. Just write “I vote for peechie” on your ballot. If you don’t like me, vote for yourself. Or vote for nobody. Or do an impressionist sketch of your dog playing the flute all over the ballot. A spoiled ballot is still a vote.

SO JUST DO IT! MAKE YOURSELF HEARD!

I don’t really have anything to say, but I thought I’d give a little update and let you all know that the funk lifted on Friday evening. It likely had something to do with the fact that I had “Orientation Day” on Thursday at work, so going back to the actual job on Friday felt like a Monday.

Other than that, the weekend’s been pretty uneventful. I’m sure I could make a few things I did sound exciting, but it just seems too much like work right now.

The blow-by-blow is in the extended entry:

Some days are really, really good.

Some days are slightly less than good.

Some days are even really bad.

Today’s not a really bad day - but it’s not anything I’d call good. In fact, it’s so mediocre it’s painful, and I can’t imagine going through days and days like this on end, living the most mediocre and unrewarding life possible.

I am cranky.

I am stagnant.

I have absolutely nothing to say, so here’s another meme:

A - Age: 23
B - Band listening to right now: None. but CSI is on TV
C - Career future: The Office of Strategery. (I have no idea what my exact future is. I like formulating and executing plans.)

Just a few tidbits about the job today that have struck me as noteworthy:

I have to enter a number of discount codes. Although all the abbreviations make sense in the context, taken out of context, they’re kindof funny.

One of them is STUPD. Type that enough times, and you’ll never type the word “stupid” properly again.

Another discount code is MIG. Now I can’t get the movie “Top Gun” out of my head:
“Talk to me Goose.”
“The Mig’s are on my tail Mav!”

I just keep humming “Highway to the Danger Zone” over and over in my head. At least it drowns out the God-Awful piped in music.

Speaking of which, I have headphones here. Time to put them on and CD it up.

At least they’ll help me concentrate more. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have a day where I actually had a lot of work to do, where people were depending on me to do more than “look busy.” So I’d better get back to it!

I just updated my blogroll. Did a little pruning of those that are either outdated, or don’t update often.

Now I’m looking for a few more blogs to add.

I only have a few requirements for the blogs that I read:

They must be, for the most part, readable. It’s amazing how seemingly illiterate some bloggers are. There are blogs out there that I’d like to read, but I can’t be bothered to dig out the decoder ring to try and decipher the author’s point.

I like personal blogs, those where the authors have a knack for making their ordinary lives seem interesting. I don’t read much of anything that’s too political or tied to one subject. If I wanted that, I’d likely pick up a book instead.

So, knowing that, what’s your favourite blog? Who’s not on my blogroll that you’d recommend?

I have absolutely nothing of any importance to say.

Friday night I hung out with my lovin’ man and watched tv.

Saturday I attended a lovely friend’s housewarming - wonderful time, thanks again dearheart!

Saturday night I braved the horror that is a Greyhound bus from Vancouver, at the scary Pacific Central station (right on the edge of cracktown), and toodled out to Abbotsford to visit the family for Father’s Day.

Sunday was spent lounging in the backyard and drinking beer with ALL FIVE members of the family (it’s a rarity that we’re all together these days. It usually only happens about 4 times a year), plus dog, plus grandparents. That was only briefly interrupted as my mom and I went and caused some serious summer damage at Reitman’s. Then the 8 of us had a fantastic BBQ, lounged about and drank some more, then went to bed early.

This morning I was up at 4:45am, and drove in with dear old dad to be at work for 6:30. Thanks to two cups of coffee and the sweet, simple passage of time, I’m finally almost awake. At least I get to leave at 2:30 to go play in the sunshine some more :)
How was your weekend?

I don’t have much to say on each of these separately, so a bulk entry seems appropriate:

Books: There was a book fair at work today, so I picked up Simply Yoga, Eats, Shoots and Leaves and The Lovely Bones. All three for under $35. Yay!

Video: I signed up for DVDFlix.ca on Tuesday night. Wednesday by 11am my first three DVD’s had shipped, and today (Thursday) they arrived in my mailbox. I’ve now got Kill Bill Vol.1, Gothika & Chicago to entertain me for the next little while. You really can’t beat it for $20/mo when everything on TV is reruns.

Music: Puretracks.com sucks. I got one of those free songs with my Big Mac Meal, so I went, I chose, I downloaded. The songs come in .wma format (fairly useless, since I primarily use winamp), and license to your machine, so they’re un-shareable (at least for someone who’s not a leet hax0r like me). Good thing it was free - I’d never pay a buck for useless music.

That’s right folks, three more up for grabs.

I’m not sure how well this will go over, considering they’re free and all, and the availability has spread rapidly through my circle of friends - but they’re coveted, and I need the help, so here’s the criteria:

The Gmail accounts will be granted to the first three people to make a min $10 donation to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. I gotta reach that $2000 goal somehow! And it’s not just my “personal goal” - if I don’t raise the cash, I don’t get to walk!

PLEASE NOTE
If you have no cash to spare, but know someone who does (and doesn’t give a lick about gmail) get them to donate. They get a tax receipt, you get the gmail (just let me know who you convinced to donate so I can send you the invite).

Thanks in advance! Go Boobies!

I just processed a contract for the new business located at the old office of my former place of employ. I wonder what they’ve done about the green walls….

So unfortunately, Skybar is all booked up for the 30th of June. Bummer.

So I’ve rescheduled - to Wednesday the 28th of July. Conveniently, the day after my birthday!

Anyone who wants to join in the fun (guys and gals alike) are welcome. You just need to be comfortable with male entertainment.
