First of all getting the DirecTV with Tivo functionality from the US is quite easy and affordable. I recently did it and had the tivo service up and running within 24 hours of receiving my shipment. The other alternative will be that StarChoice in Canada (which signed a exlusive deal with Tivo in 2001) is launching their PVR service at some point in 2004 (their press releases indicated anywhere from Q1 to latter part of 2004). Either way you'll need to install a satelittle dish (which ofcourse requires southeast exposure). The other hope is that Shaw cable (which owns starchoice) will make the PVR service available on its digital terminals.

If you want TIVO now..get it on EBAY..it works!

actually i'm not sure if it is. if you have a spare computer you can easily turn it into a "tivo" like machine.
