At a Loss

Monday, August 11th, 2003

I’m totally at a loss for what to write about. Life just hasn’t seemed all that exciting lately, and definitely not worth blogging about.

That being said, I’ve still got a desire to write about *something*. So this is what I’m going to do:

I’m opening it up to the masses. Is there anything you really want to know about me? or that you’d like me to share with you, my faithful readers (all four of you)?

Leave your questions, comments, concerns, complaints and suggestions in the comments, and I’ll do my best to formulate some entertaining responses.

Everyone else is doing it…

You are 14% geek
OK, so maybe you ain’t a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you’re probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

Where is the Love?

Right here baby!

It’s so nice to be appreciated and recognized for your abilities :)

Thong Song

Wednesday, August 6th, 2003

I saw this little gem on GoFish, and just had to share.

My favorite part is where it is suggested that “heavy women refrain from wearing hip-huggers”.

HALLELUJA!

If only someone could make the same recommendation about Spandex.

UPDATE: Why doesn’t anyone bother telling me when links don’t work? It’s fixed now.

Sick

Wednesday, August 6th, 2003

I am so sick.

Fortunately it’s “head” sick, not “entire body” sick, so I can still function, albeit a little slower than usual.

I just hope it doesn’t get any worse.

Bring on the drugs!

Alive, barely.

Tuesday, August 5th, 2003

I am alive, barely. I have recently rediscovered the joys of working in an office environment where the rule is: one person brings in a cold, the rest of us will get it. So because my head is about to explode, I’ll use bulletpoints.

-I bought a Sony Clie. It’s hella nifty. Anyone out there with games, ebooks, etc., feel free to share!

-I get to play stepmom to Devon’s pussy kitties for the entire month of October! Yay for Katzes!

-I ate pizza for 4 meals in a row this week. I am sick of pizza.

-Diet Pepsi is great for clearing the phlegm out of your throat, but leaves your teeth feeling icky.

-Ice cream sticks to the phlegm in your throat. But Ice cream is worth it. I am not yet sick of Ice cream.

And now I will go to collapse into a puddle and try to get some sleep.

Weekend

Monday, August 4th, 2003

I had a great weekend, and although it was long for some folks, I get to be at work bright and early on this holiday, after a $16(+ tip) taxi ride to work, because I wasn’t smart enough to plan ahead for the “holiday hours” that the skytrain would be running on. Had I thought about it, I would’ve been able to carpool with someone.

If my weekend wasn’t so nice, I might be more bitter. What made it so nice you ask? Well let me tell you…

Saturday was my bf’s mom’s wedding. She married a wonderful guy, and the event was casual and fun was had by everyone. We went to a beautiful location in Deep Cove for photographs at a friend of the groom’s beachfront home. This house also happened to be 2 houses away from where Ben Affleck and J’Lo were staying while in Vancouver, and we caught a couple glimpses of them in their garden from the beach (although it’s very secluded, and they stayed mostly in the shadows).

After that it was on to the reception. The only words I have for that are “open bar”.

Sunday I spent out with the girls. Brunch with Violet and Meighan at a wonderful restaurant on Broadway & Vine called Kaya (best eggs bennie I’ve ever had), then meandering around West 4th where I got a great sweater at Plum. Then it was on to Granville Island with Vio to the public market. A bagful of fresh fruits, veggies, and bagels later I headed home for some pizza, tv, and bed.

Baby did a Bad Bad Thing!

I forgot that my skytrain pass had expired until it was too late today. Damn the new month.

So what did I do?

I rode home without paying anyway!

muahahahaha

Come ‘n’ git it!

Friday, August 1st, 2003

Tonight I have the dinner of a 7 year old. KD and Meat Cubes. The meat cubes being pieces of pork chop. But only because I didn’t have weiners in the house.

Besides, having pork chops makes it a little more grown up. If it were with weiners instead, it would be the dinner of a 5 year old.

New Beginning

Friday, August 1st, 2003

Maybe it’s the new month, or I’m just finally getting my shit together, but I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot this morning.

I payed bills and balanced my chequebook, did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, sorted out all my papers to be filed (although filing will have to wait for another day), even did my hair (I usually just put it up while still wet).

I’ve managed to make lunch, and will even have time to eat it before I go to work with plenty of time to spare.

Maybe I can do this 40 hour work-week thing afterall :)
Speaking of work, isn’t it funny how things work out sometimes. Poor Sue seems to have found herself in the realm of the unemployed. Now Sue is a smart cookie, and I have no doubts that she’ll find something else in no time.

The funny thing is though, that I interviewed with that company for a somewhat experimental position back in April. I was absolutely devistated when I didn’t get it. Although at this point I’m pretty sure that I would be in the same boat Sue’s in now if I had gotten that job.

So best of luck Sue, and thanks to whoever or whatever in the cosmos has been looking out for me :)
