So my first day at work rocked my socks. It looks like it’s going to be a great opportunity to actually practice some of what I’ve spent the past five years learning – even though the official reason I’ve been hired doesn’t actually encompass any of that. I work with a great bunch of people, I have a very do-able commute, and I already feel very valued and competent etc. in my position.
There was also a big fire down the street, but since everyone already talked about it and linked to it, that’s all I have to say about that.
And I swear, it never rains but it pours. After going hard at the job hunt, and finally landing this position, someone called yesterday for a position I applied for a while ago wanting an interview, and I was called today and offered a job from an interview I had three weeks ago. I declined both offers as I had already committed to this one (which is the best fit for me anyway). You snooze you lose people! The peechinator is in high demand!
Speaking of demand, my body is demanding some sleep at the moment. I’ve had a long day. It’s been quite a while since I’ve had to do something (other than eat sleep and breathe) for 8 entire hours, and it takes a little warming up to.
I know this entry has been all disjointed and stuff, but my mind is all scrambled with stuff that I’ve done and stuff I’ve yet to do today, so it’s just not going to get much better. Perhaps I’ll try harder tomorrow, although after post-work bevvy’s, I can’t promise anything.
