1. What do you most want to be remembered for?
Being a genuinely good person. I’m not sure if I’m there yet, but I know I’m trying.

2. What quotation best fits your outlook on life?
“never never never give up” - Winston Churchill

3. What single achievement are you most proud of in the past year?
Getting my BA

4. What about the past ten years?
Considering that I’ve spent most of the past 10 years in the process leading up to my achievement this year, see #3.

5. If you were asked to give a child a single piece of advice to guide them through life, what would you say?
No matter what anyone ever says or does to you, always be good, and maintain your integrity. That doesn’t mean you should let yourself get stomped on, but never stoop to that slimy level of pointless retribution and taking advantage of others.

This all reminds me of a little conversation I had with myself this morning…

… but someday I’ll be Saturday Night!

I was going to write a long, drawn out post about how I feel all sorry for myself for all sorts of reasons, until I realized that I have all sorts of reasons not to feel so pathetic.

Instead I’m putting out a call: I need something to do tonight - call or e-mail me, we’ll make plans! And be warned, If I don’t get any responses by 6:00pm, I’m going to start to call and harass all of you!!!

I just wrote an entry about Bruce Almighty (I went to see it yesterday) but I lost it.

Summation: Go see it.

The end.

If there were an opportunity to use trackback now, I would. Donna got the common cold, and I have a hankering for a stomach ache (I’d actually like to have the flu, and a sore throat, and the cold too).

So who’s with me? If we all order together, we can save on the shipping fees! Either that, or some loving fan of mine (heck, band together if you’re broke and/or cheap) could always purchase the set for me as a graduation present! EIGHT DAYS PEOPLE! OMFG!

I hope they make a SARS toy soon. Nothing says love like a plush Corona Virus.

I seem to have gone overboard on a few things today.

1. Sleeping - I slept for about 14 hours, I didn’t need the extra sleep, I was just lazy.
2. Cleaning - Not really a bad thing to go overboard on, but my apartment (except my roommate’s room) is now completely sanitized.
3. Blogrolling - Thanks Devon. This better be cool!
4. Pork - Bacon with Brunch, Pork Chops for dinner, that’s a lotta pig for one day my friend.
5. Linking - Google is my friend (btw, that Linking link should interest Donna and those who witnessed her recent linking fiasco).

What’s the last thing you went overboard on?

I have a strong suspicion that my at shaw dot ca e-mail accounts are not working. I don’t actually have any proof of this, both test e-mails I sent myself this morning seemed to work. This has done nothing to alleviate my strong suspicion though.

You see, I have received absolutely no e-mail from either of those accounts since Friday, and periodically, I get a lovely little popup box asking me for my password (which is promptly rejected despite being completely correct).

It’s also possible that nobody likes me anymore and just doesn’t send me mail. Possible yes, but highly unlikely :)
UPDATE: I fixed it. And promptly received a buncha mail. You do love me :)

I cooked, and it didn’t come out of a box!!!

Last night for dinner I cooked up a halibut filet (cover in flour & lemon pepper, fry in olive oil until cooked through) - that was the tastiest thing I’d eaten (that I cooked myself) in quite a while.

Today I made something new and different. Dijon Chicken and Broccoli. It was super easy, and the ingredients are simple enough that it was easy to make a small portion without worrying too much about measurements. My only complaint is that it turned out tasty, but a little bland. I’ll have to discover some spices to put in it to liven it up a little.

I’m usually really quite good with converting abstract thought patterns into chains of words that most people understand. Some days, however, it seems nearly impossible. Today is one of those days.

That is not good, because I need to write something that resembles a cover-letter so that I can attempt to procure myself some “gainful employment” in order to sustain my pathetic existence.

Unfortunately, the words just aren’t coming. Perhaps I’ll just go perform some menial household chores, and that will make me a little more motivated to write something that will get me out of this house for 8 hours a day 5 days a week.

During the course of our adventures yesterday, me and the boyfriend decided to stop by a&b sound (Metrotown location) to finally replace his long-ago stolen car stereo. Over the past year he’s spent a huge passel of cash there on home audio equipment, and been treated really well. Unfortunately, that streak ended abruptly yesterday.

The dorky guy who was in car audio that day proceeded to completely and totally screw us over. He was on a huge push to force the sale and pushed one (very nice, but a little more than the claim would cover) deck on us, that my complacent boyfriend decided to go with (those little features that boys seem to like in their toys always amazes me).

He also promised us that we could have it installed that very day. Unfortunately, Metrotown doesn’t have an install bay - we’d have to go over to the Hastings location. So off we trundled, all the way across town where we were promptly told that the guy at the other store is an idiot, and the harness and wiring kit weren’t in stock.

Fortunately, this story does have a happy ending. The guys at the Hastings location were AMAZING. They went out of their way to scrounge parts (and write them off) in order to make good on goofy guy’s bogus promise.

Today’s lesson: Go visit the guys at the Hastings a&b sound for all your car audio needs! They deserve it!

Despite the fact that this was all set up to be one of the most productive days I’ve had in a long time, I feel like it ended up being a total waste of a day.

I started with actually getting up at the inspiring hour of 7:00am. This is a rarity for someone who usually has no reason to get up at all in the morning (or afternoon for that matter). I finished building my desk, and proceeded to move the new one out, and reassemble the computer on the new one. That completed, I re-organized the now box-free dining room area.

So far so good.

By that time, I had to go take a shower and get ready to go to my interview. So off I trundled to interview for a job I wasn’t really sure about - and I think my hesitation really came through in what was already a not great interview. Tomorow’s project will involve what damage control I can muster up.

While I was out, I got a call from my boss asking me if I could cover a shift for tonight - so I figured that the gym could wait, yet again, until tomorrow (it’s already been waiting about a week) and that I’d fill in. Well I just got back from that shift. A shift that entailed two and a half hours of sitting around waiting for a customer, any customer, then giving up and closing.

I’m also realizing how much I absolutely and completely hate not having a car. I know I’m in just about the best possible location (for me at least) when it comes to taking transit where I need to go. It’s just that it takes so damn long. I could drive most places downtown inside of 15 minutes. Instead I get to take the skytrain and usually hike a few blocks. I was also looking at the address of this place that I interviewed for today - driving directions should take me about 11 minutes. The most efficient bus route will take 40 minutes.

I just hate this feeling like I’ve been running around all day, and still got nothing done. Does anyone have any suggestions?

So my name’s not Bob, but I’ve been seeing that horridly annoying commercial on TV every day about Bob the Builder (whom I’ve never heard of - obviously he’s no Spongebob Squarepants or Zoobomafoo), so I figured I’d get a lot of nutty search engine hits from people looking for him on the inter-web.

Speaking of building, I bought a new computer desk over the weekend, and I built it all by myself! It’s the Goliat workstation from Ikea. If they had a picture of it online, I’d show you - but no dice. It was pretty cheap, so it’s probably discontinued or something.

Even though the majority of Ikea furniture is MDF crap, I really like the feeling I get from making something out of prefabricated nothing. I feel all Amy Wynn Pastor-esque, without actually having to know anything about carpentry, and unfortunately, without a nifty set of pneumatic tools.

While cleaning out some drawers, I found this little gem, author unknown. Enjoy.

The Plan
In the beginning was the plan
And then came the assumptions
And the assumptions were without form
And the plan was completely without substance
And the darkness was upon the face of the workers
And they spoke among themselves, saying
“It is a crock of shit, and it stinketh”
And the workers went unto their supervisors and sayeth
“It is a pail of dung and none may abide the odor thereof”
And the supervisors went unto their managers and sayeth
“It is a container of excrement and it is very strong such that none may abide”
And the managers went unto their directors and sayeth
“It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength”
And the directors went unto the vice presidents to sayeth
“It promotes growth and is very powerful”
And the vice presidents went unto the president to sayeth
“This new plan will actively promote the growth and efficiency of this company in these areas in particular”
And the president looked upon the plan
And saw that it was good
And the plan became policy
And this is how shit happens.
